Stay Wired is such a rad place to sip coffee, study and hear some good tunes. You never know who you might meet and  you might fall in love upstairs while the local talent serenades you. At least that is the story of these two.

Congratulations everyone!! I am round of applauding you! Thank you for following me on this journey of some of my loves and now you know a lot about me! I would love to get to know more about you and the best way I do that is behind the lenses capturing the loves in your life. Whether it is a man you have slept beside for 15 years or a dashing beau you just met.. call me and lets start the conversation. I love to travel and be invited into new people’s lives.

Outfitted. Pushing the limits within reason. In most urban contexts there are so many people that there is less fear to push the limits according to style. There are spectators everywhere, but in urban contexts, one easily gets lost in a sea of people, so creating freedom to be you. We all want to be cool and hip to somebody, but at the end of the day when the lights are off and you are laying in bed staring at the ceiling fan, it’s just you.

If we live in the city, burbs or the country, we gotta let go of the fear of the onlooker and be us. If you want to wear polka dots paired with a floral shirt, go for it. At the end of the day it is you. You and I are free to be us.

Urban Outfitters is a little taste of city life and the freedom to be me. I am a city girl.

I liked dresses, makeup and painted nails but when putting it all together on me, I often felt like I was trying too hard.  Then I met Casey Chappell. She turned me upside down and introduced me to the art of hair and makeup. The first time we entered into Sephora, we were in New York City. I was overwhelmed but quickly enticed by the packaging of it’s top sellers. We roamed for an hour or so, trying colors, glosses, brushing our brow lines and afterwards we went to Tiffany’s. I wish we would have had breakfast there.

That Christmas, Casey started buying me makeup. As an artist, it became a new medium of creativity and expression. It also became fun and challenging to create looks, learn the smokey eye, don’t forget to blend and is blue shadow really back? (for me it is and I love it)!  I bought my first colored tube of lipstick last year, mac’s vegas volt, and I wore it on a visit back to NC.  I ventured over to my mom’s house parading my new eyeliner technique, and my vegas volt lip,  She noticed immediately and when I shared with her, my new love for makeup, she responded, “it’s about time”.

The following week, my mom, sister, and my aunt were all requesting what I was using. We were inspiring each other, enjoying being girlie and highlighting God given beauty with an accent of color or a striking line. My face is a canvas, blank, and each day I get to create.

Day 6, and one of my loves, Sephora.

The first encounter I had with the Gap was from my dad and it was back in 1991.(..this story doesn’t begin with a walk in the snow to school..). He went to NYC with my older sister as a chaperon with her high school drama class. He purchased a bright orange and yellow jacket. I remember looking at it and loving it. Maybe for the simple blue tag with it’s serif font reading Gap that hung from it’s collar, or that it was bright, or that it was from NYC (really from China..but I was in 7th grade), or maybe just because it was his and for out of love wherever we were he wanted us to be able to see him, know where he was, and find our way back to him. He looked like a highlighter. I know he still has this jacket.

Dad’s, they protect & provide and I like to believe that his purchase from the Gap, in a round about way, gave my dad an article of clothing that aided him in his role. No matter where, from pizza hut to a crowed time square his kids would be able to find their way to him.  He has since added to the repertoire of brightly colored gear and I too have my first highlighter jacket.
